on graft my top priority, Raila tells US officials

Azimio La Umoja presidential
candidate Raila Odinga has vowed to lead a robust war against corruption and
designate ending the vice as a signature agenda in his collaboration with the
US government.
Speaking on Tuesday when he met
the Corporate Council on Africa, the US Chamber of Commerce and Constituency
for Africa, Raila rallied top opinion and business organisations in the US to
direct their investments to Kenya.
The August presidential hopeful
who is on a tour of the US promised to deal with concerns that have deterred
the investors from fully embracing Kenya.
Raila also held discussions
with the Atlantic Council, where he promised to address governance issues that
he said keep away investors, such as poor justice systems and high cost of
energy.
Among those accompanying the
ODM leader are NARC Kenya leader Martha Karua and Dr Sally Kosgei.
Other members of the delegation
include Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, his Kisii counterpart James
Ongwae, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang, and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui.
Raila winds up his engagements
in the US with meetings at the State Department, the White House and Capitol
Hill on Wednesday before returning to Nairobi in time for former President Mwai
Kibaki’s state burial.
Raila was meant to be in the US
for a week, with several meetings with the Kenyan Diaspora as well as a
smattering of US government officials.
