Ruto's bodyguard killed in staged suicide

A Presidential Escort Unit officer attached to Deputy President William Ruto has been found dead at his Juja home in Kiambu County in what investigators say appears to be a staged suicide.

Samuel Ngatia (pictured) who had requested short leave to deal with some personal matters had secretly made arrangements to visit Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters and make a confidential witness testimony around the recently revealed assassination plans by senior participants in government against President Uhuru Kenyatta and his top aides.

Ngatia's faked suicide is a stark reminder of Sgt Kipyegon Kenei, an officer also attached to Ruto who was due to give testimony to DCI involving DP Ruto's involvement with Ksh39 Billion fake weapons deal but was found murdered and suicide staged almost two years ago.

Detectives are investigating whether Ngatia was killed to cover up the Sh39 billion arms deal scandal executed at the Deputy President Harambee Annex offices.

Ngatia was alone in the house within the General Service Unit’s Recce squad camp along Kenyatta Road at the time of the incident on Monday night (March 11, 2022).

Ngatia, 35, had two children. He had apparently separated with his wife two years ago, a family friend said.

“He did not look stressed when we met last Friday and we are waiting to for word from the police on the incident,” said a close family member.
