Deputy President William Ruto has resgined to fate and accepted the decision by President Uhuru Kenyatta to support his opponent and Azimio la Umoja Presidential flag-bearer Raila Odinga.
He however asked him to let them square it out alone in the August 9 polls.
The Deputy President was speaking during a series of rallies in Bahati Constituency, Nakuru County.
The Kenya Kwanza team once again accused the  March 9, 2018 handshake of running down the economy.
The team which traversed Nakuru County to promote the Bottom up economic model said promised to lower the cost of basic commodities once elected in office.
Meawnhile, Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka hosted President Uhuru Kenyatta for dinner on Friday at his residence in Nairobi.
The Head of State was in the company of KANU Chairman Gideon Moi in the evening visit to the former vice President’s home.
The three are said to have had a lengthy talk, lasting over five hours.
“The Leaders discussion centred on the current political situation in the Country with the three affirming their full commitment and support to the candidature of Raila Odinga of the Azimio-One Kenya,” a statement from Kalonzo Musyoka’s communication team noted.
The meeting comes just one week after Kalonzo threw his weight behind Azimio la Umoja coalition bringing together President Kenyatta’s Jubilee, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM and Moi’s KANU alongside 20 other political outfits.
Elsewhere Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya made a political excursion of Mt. Kenya East to drum up support for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Presidential bid in the August 2022 elections.
Munya, who served as Governor of Meru between 2013 to 2017, called on area residents to back the Azimio la Umoja coalition, reiterating that was where their interests have been adequately accommodated.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta is retiring and he wants to ensure he leaves us in good hands. That is why he is working with Raila Odinga. He wants to ensure we have our share in Raila’s government,” Munya told a rally in Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County.
The Agriculture CS, who has since shelved his desire to go back to Meru as Governor, said the Kenya Kwanza Alliance under the stewardship of Deputy President William Ruto does not warrant the support of the region given that it is yet to offer anything significant and which can transform the fortunes of people of of the larger Mt. Kenya.
“Even parties from this region, he (William Ruto), wants nothing to do with them. Who will be speaking and bargaining on our behalf in his government?” he posed
“He (Deputy President) is not offering anything to us. He is only making promises such as Kshs. 1 billion to women, yet this has already been given by the government. This money is even being looted and it doesn’t reach our women,” he said
Munya insists that Azimio la Umoja is a partnership where each member will negotiate for their interests if it forms government.
He described the DP as an intolerant leader who does not deserve to lead the country.
