Karua, Kuria and Kalonzo: What are they upto?

Karua, Kuria and Kalonzo: What are they upto?

By Dick Kamau

On Saturday, February 26, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria (pictured centre) met Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua in the morning at a Thika hotel.

Later in the day after the breakfast meeting, Kuria unveiled his bid to run for Kiambu County gubernatorial seat on his party, Chama Cha Kazi.

On the same day, Saturday, 26th February, Karua skipped ODM and Jubilee National Delegates Congress meetings held at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) and Kasarani gymnasium respectively.

As a principal in the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) that comprises Narc-Kenya, Wiper led by Kalonzo Musyoka, Kanu led by Gideon Moi and Cyrus Jirongo’s United Democratic Party, she had been invited to both meetings.

Come Sunday and Karua poured cold water on the talks between OKA and Azimio la Umoja led by ODM leader Raila Odinga, an outfit backed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Come Sunday again and as Deputy President William Ruto jetted out of the country to the United States, Kuria and Karua met other OKA chiefs but intentionally excluded Gideon Moi from the meeting.

One same day in the evening,  Kalonzo surprised many when he cancelled plans to sign coalition agreement between OKA and Azimio la Umoja which was scheduled for Monday, with no reason given.

After the Sunday meeting, Kuria announced he was ready to join OKA on condition it would not support Raila for presidency.

The bottom line is that Kuria is a man on a mission and forming an alliance with his party, Chama Cha Kazi, will only work to the disadvantage of Azimio and Raila’s presidential bid.

It is to be recalled that when Amani National Leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford-Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula moved out of OKA to join Ruto’s Hustlers Nation, the other OKA principals – Kalonzo and Gideon - did not know about it until the last minute.

Whatever is cooking from the above events will strike political prophets with a rude shock... Another earthquake is in making.
