Mystery over death of former Kameme journalist in Seattle, US
Mystery surrounds the death of a former Kameme FM presenter in Seattle, US.
The presenter, Jedidah Wambui Weru alias Mima (pictured) passed away in December 2021 but the cause of death remains unclear.
She moved to the US in 2018 in search of greener pastures and settled down with a man who she never introduced to her family.
Family sources said Wambui stopped communicating with her daughter, mother and siblings.
Her sister, Florence Wanjiru, said the man denied her access to her mobile phone and would often monitor her calls when she was allowed to speak to someone on the phone.
On December 22, 2021, she called her family to wish them a happy season and that was the last time they spoke.
Two days later, a friend from the US called them and informed them that Wambui was sick.
Days later, her white husband called her family and informed them that Wambui had died.
He also informed them that she had been cremated.
When she inquired why he had not informed the family about her death earlier he said it was not that important.
However, she offered to send the ashes to her family but her daughter, Esther Nyawira, refused since she was not given an opportunity to pay her last respect.
Further, Nyawira revealed that she asked the man if she could travel to the US to see where her mother lived but he declined.
The family suspects that the man is lying about Wambui's body and called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help them bring her body back home.
Wambui worked at Kameme FM between 2000 and 2012.
She joined Interconsumer Products Ltd in 2015 and later proceeded to Weru TV where she worked from 2016 to 2017.
