Kiambaa residents regret electing UDA’s KaWanjiku
By John Kamau
Two months after voters in Kiambaa
Constituency in Kiambu County elected United Democratic Alliance (UDA)
candidate, John Njuguna Wanjiku alias KaWanjiku as their MP, they have started
regretting the decision.
They are now blaming themselves for not
electing Jubilee candidate Kariri Njama who had their interest at heart.
The residents are lamenting that KaWanjiku
has no time for them and spends most of his time serving his master, Deputy
President William Ruto.
Instead of using time to issue bursary cheques
to needy and deserving students, they said, the legislator spends hours at the DP’s
Karen residence, where he joins the second in command in meeting delegations in
his premature 2022 campaigns.
KaWanjiku, the voters lamented,
frequents Karen to please his master, Ruto, instead of addressing their needs
which they elected him to do.
They added that KaWanjiku has hired
non-residents in his office and locals who dare visit the offices are chased
away like wild dogs.
Most of those hired
are blood relatives of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua who is rumuored to be
KaWanjiku’s biological father.
The voters said KaWanjiku
has now emulated his biological father, Gachagua who is at the centre of Sh12
billion tender scams by initiating questionable development projects to facilitate
looting of CDF.
The new MP also spends
valuable time chasing payments at the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company
(NCWSC) where prior to the by-election he had been illegally awarded contracts
worth millions of shillings.
Prior to the by-election,
Thingira.org revealed that KaWanjiku
was minting millions of shillings illegally at the water firm through award of
lucrative tenders.
Those who were aiding
him in the execution of the tender scams included the firm’s Managing Director,
Eng Nahashon Muguna and the Supply Chain Manager, Benedict Kiema.
Through the two, KaWanjiku
was illegally awarded multimillion shillings tenders and was using the proceeds
to fund his campaigns in the by-election.
The documents in our possession
showed that KaWanjiku’s two companies, namely; Full Pack International Company
Ltd and MMI International Ltd were illegally awarded contracts and are actively
in business with the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company.
According to the
documents, KaWanjiku mysteriously bagged Tender No. NCWSC/46/2018 for supply
and delivery of sewer materials, concrete pipes (9X6), manhole covers (42"
X 36") and manhole cover slab (42") and was paid millions of
shillings.
He also mysteriously
bagged Tender No. NCWSC/28/2018 for supply and delivery of Unit Based PPEs and
Portable Multigas Detector and again was paid millions of shillings.
He was also awarded
Tender No. NCWSC/41/2020 for supply and delivery of Polyres in Triangular
Manhole Covers (40ton) and Frame and Cover and the payment was being processed
by the time the by-election was on.
KaWanjiku was paid the
money though no work was done and this was evidenced by the gaping manholes in
some parts of the city.
KaWanjiku, we
revealed, was introduced by his biological father, Gachagua to Ruto, who in
turn introduced him to the water firm’s Managing Director, Muguna.
The Deputy President piled
pressure on Muguna to award another tender to KaWanjiku and make the payment in
advance.
KaWanjiku used the
illicit proceeds from the water firm to print UDA branded T-shirts at
Industrial Area in Nairobi near the Nairobi Water Headquarters.
