Uhuru invites MPs as Jubilee, Wiper and Kanu plan to join Azimio
By Justus Karanja
President Uhuru Kenyatta has
invited Jubilee MPs to a meeting at State House today.
According to an invitation
message, the MPs are to meet at Statehouse Nairobi starting 9:00 am.
“I wish to invite you to a
Jubilee Party consultative meeting with our party leader, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta,
at State House Nairobi on Friday, February 4, at 9 a.m.,” read the invite sent
out to MPs by National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya.
The invitation states that the
ruling party members are to engage in a consultative meeting with the
president.
This comes
as Jubilee Party plans to hold its much-awaited
National Delegates Convention (NDC) on February 25 and 26, 2022.
In a notice issued Thursday,
the party’s Secretary-General Raphael Tuju says the conference will take place
at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi from 10:00am.
In the convention, the
delegates will review, formulate and approve the party policies.
Further the delegates, will
amend, review and ratify proposed changes to the party constitution to comply
with the current electoral laws.
The members will also approve
the proposed new seal, symbol and flag of the party.
“The NDC will be held in strict
compliance with Covid-19 guidelines by the Ministry of Health,” Tuju stated.
The NDC had been scheduled for
November 30th, 2021, but was postponed as it had coincided with the head
of state’s most important event of the year, the State of the Nation Address in
Parliament.
During the NDC the delegates
will endorse Jubilee’s coalition with ODM leader Raila Odinga under the Azimio
la Umoja initiative.
Wiper Democratic Movement led
by Kalonzo Musyoka is also expected to hold NDC next week on Wednesday to ratify
cooperation with Azimio la Umoja.
Former ruling party, Kanu is
also expected to hold NDC to ratify the same.
