Ruto flies to Dubai for medical check-up

Deputy President William Ruto (pictured in Kikuyu constituency) has reportedly flown to Dubai for a routine medical check-up.

Close sources revealed Ruto flew to the Arab country on Tuesday morning and is expected back by Friday.

But though details are scantly, the Deputy President was missing when ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula and a host of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) allied legislators toured Nairobi to popularise the Kenya Kwanza alliance.

The leaders held at City Park in Westlands before proceeding to Kiambu County.

Ruto was expected at the rally.

About the rally, Ruto posted on his Facebook: “Nairobi Hustlers wake up early, toil the whole day and return home late. They are the key movers of the economy. We must therefore empower them to reap a fair share of their sweat and make them true stakeholders in this nation.

Continued our Uchumi Kwanza agenda in Westlands Consituency, Nairobi County. — City Park, Githogoro, Mwimuto, Uthiru and Kangemi markets.

Leaders present included Party leaders Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya), UDA chairman Johnson Muthama, MPs Aden Duale, Kithure Kindiki, Rigathi Gachagua, Johnson Sakaja, Kipchumba Murkomen, Aaron Cheruiyot, Kimani Ichung’wa, Millicent Omanga, Nixon Korir, and Githua Wamacukuru.

Former governor Ferdinand Waititu, MP Margaret Wanjiru, LSK President Nelson Havi and McDonald Mariga (International footballer).

The previous day, Ruto was in Kikuyu.

He tweeted: Sports is medicine for the body. Other than providing positive energy, recreation and discipline, it also gives opportunity to discover talent and can be a source of livelihood.

Joined the youth at Thirime Primary School grounds in Kikuyu after commissioning an administration block and classrooms funded by NG-CDF Kikuyu.

The last time Ruto was in Dubai was in November 2020.

At the time, online platforms were rife with rumours that Ruto had traveled out of the country after a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday, November 18. 

In Dubai, Ruto met with former Nigeria Vice President Atiku Abubakar. 

Aong those who accompanied the Deputy President was former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar. 

The photo raised confusion as to whether the DP was in Nigeria while online political pundits claimed he was in Dubai. 

There are reports Ruto will visit Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, who is hospitalized in a Dubai hospital.
