Uhuru to lead Raila’s campaigns in Mt Kenya, says Kamanda

Party nominated MP Maina Kamanda (pictured) has revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta
will lead ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential campaigns in the vote rich
Mount Kenya region.
Kamanda,
who also announced his interest in the Nairobi Senatorial seat in the August General
Election, told Deputy President William Ruto to prepare for a fierce battle in
the race for the about 6 million votes in Mount Kenya.
Speaking
during an interview with a local television station, Kamanda said he was not
planning to retire from active politics and he was ready to serve the people of
Nairobi at a more advanced level as their Senator.
The
former Starehe MP revealed that his decision to run for the Senate position was
informed by the demand of the people of Nairobi.
He also
told the Ruto-led UDA party to get ready for defeat in Nairobi noting that all
political seats in the county will be taken by the Azimio la Umoja team.
Following
his entry to the contest, Kamanda will now compete against ODM
Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna and UDA's Karen Nyamu among other aspirants.
Kamanda
said Uhuru will soon start his one-on-one engagement with the people of Mt
Kenya region.
He said
Uhuru will conduct several rallies in his political backyard to explain to the
people his achievement in the region for the last nine years, and to guide them
ahead of the August election.
