Exposed: Ruto’s plot to bring Sonko back to City Hall

By John Kamau, Editor,

With very low influence in Nairobi, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) associated with Deputy President William Ruto plans to bring back former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to counter ODM leader Raila Odinga's influence in the capital city.

Ruto wants Sonko back at City Hall at all costs.

The DP has for long had the "Nairobi headache”, an issue brought about by the fact that UDA has very low support in the ODM-majority Nairobi city.

To counter this, Ruto has infiltrated the Judiciary and pitted it against the Executive.

He wishes to bring back Sonko in a bid to have a formidable person in Nairobi's politics to counter the huge Raila’s influence.

Ruto top backer, lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has been tasked to ensure Supreme Court Judge Ibrahim Mohammed is in UDA's pockets.

The judge's first mission was to issue orders barring the swearing-in of Nairobi Deputy Governor Kananu, as her swearing in would have stopped the Sonko come back.

The three have been joined by the Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu to influence the ruling by the appellate court and ensure Sonko's impeachment is declared illegal.

Mwilu has a graft case hanging on her neck and is therefore working for Ruto in a bid to get back at the government.

It is to be recalled that Justice Ibrahim fought off allegations of bribery and gross misconduct raised against him in a petition filed by one, Jared Ongeri.

Ongeri was seeking the judge’s removal from office.

He filed the petition at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) seeking the removal Judge Ibrahim on grounds of alleged bribery and misconduct.

The petitioner accused the judges of violating the constitution, gross misconduct, breach of the judicial code of conduct and oath of office in the determination of the Wajir gubernatorial petition.

Sonko is also facing a Sh357 million graft charges.
